Introduction Over the past quarter century, mycotic infections have become quite widespread. This is attributed to a number of reasons: the frequent use of antibacterial drugs, an increase in the number of diseases accompanied by secondary immunodeficiency conditions (oncohematology, oncology, transplantology, radiation injuries, rheumatology, AIDS, diabetes mellitus), improvement of diagnostic methods (the possibility of isolating pathogens or their genetic material, the prevalence and frequency of use of high-precision imaging techniques, such as computed tomography) [1, 2, 3].

We are accustomed to the fact that fungi can cause dysbiosis of the intestines, vagina, can be found in the esophagus in seriously ill patients, but with damage to the upper respiratory tract, we most often overlook the possibility that it can be caused by a mycotic infection. Meanwhile, “fungal diseases of the upper respiratory tract are much more common than diagnosed” [1].
