Facial nerve neuropathy (FN) is a disease characterized by paresis of the muscles innervated by the facial nerve. Most often, the disease is etiologically
associated with an infectious factor, primarily with the herpes simplex virus type I. In 75% of cases of acute neuropathy, the cause remains unknown (idiopathic
neuropathy of the facial nerve or Bell’s palsy).
