Over the past decade, modern pulmonology has faced such a serious problem as timely and accurate diagnosis of etiology in patients with long-term fever. Its relevance has become more acute due to the growing variety of pathogenic microorganisms from year to year against the background of environmental deterioration, stressful situations, and unjustified use of antibiotic therapy.
Recently, fungal infections have also joined this number. Such diseases are difficult to diagnose, or, more correctly, they are not diagnosed at all, since their clinical course does not differ from other lung diseases, and a standard culture study often gives a negative result. More modern diagnostic methods, including methods for detecting the genetic material of microorganisms, did not “reach” the use in the health care of Moldova.
