Endometriosis is one of the most common gynecological diseases, ranking third in the structure of gynecological pathology after inflammatory diseases and uterine fibroids. Until now, there is no single theory of the occurrence of endometriosis. In patients with endometriosis, various disorders in the content of hormones in the blood serum have been revealed, but it has now been proven that hormones do not have a direct effect on the cells of hormone-dependent organs.
Today, great importance in the etiology of endometriosis is attached to the violation of the ratio of the processes of proliferation and apoptosis (genetically programmed cell death). Suppression of apoptosis leads to the development of hyperplastic, proliferative and neoplastic diseases.
