SUMMARY A review of modern scientific data on the chemical composition, use in folk
medicine, and pharmacological properties of the field borer (Knautia arvensis (L.) Coult) of the Teel family (Dipsacaceae Juss.), Widely used in traditional medicine in
Russia, is presented. It has been shown that the field borer contains various classes of biologically active substances (including phenolic compounds, polysaccharides,
organic acids, macro and microelements), which have a versatile pharmacological
effect.
