Introduction Currently, schistosomiasis is reported in 74 countries in America, Asia and Africa. According to WHO estimates, about 200 million people are affected by schistosomes, and the disease causes more than 200,000 deaths a year. In human pathology, genitourinary, intestinal and Japanese schistosomiasis are of the greatest importance.

The causative agents of schistosomiasis are trematodes of the Schistosomatidae family, the causative agent of genitourinary schistosomiasis – Schistosoma haematobiom, intestinal schistosomiasis – s. mansoni and s. intercalatum and Japanese schistosomiasis – s. japonicum. The ultimate owner of all species is man and some species of animals. A person excretes eggs with schistosomes in feces and urine.
