A cataract is a partial or complete opacity of the lens of the eye, located inside the eyeball between the iris and the vitreous humor. The lens is naturally transparent and acts as a natural lens that refracts light rays and transmits them to the retina. In case of cataract, the lens that has lost its transparency ceases to transmit light, vision with cataract deteriorates up to complete loss.
According to WHO statistics, age-related cataract is most common, in 70-80% of cases it develops in people after 70 years. It is believed that cataracts are a disease of the elderly. But people can face cataracts not only in the elderly, but also in the working age of 45-50 years. Age-related cataract develops due toage-related changes in the body, and they occur for everyone in their own time.
