Russia first became acquainted with homeopathy in the early nineteenth century, thanks to German doctors and researchers who settled in St. Petersburg
at the time. One of the first most famous St. Petersburg homeopaths was K. Trinius
– a botanist, doctor of medicine. Thanks to his influence, a sympathetic attitude towards the homeopathic method of treatment developed in the imperial family. In
1833, the Highest Imperial Decree “On the permission of opening homeopathic pharmacies and all doctors in private practice to treat with homeopathic remedies
at their own discretion” was issued, which served as the basis for the use of the homeopathic method of treatment in all appanages, in which, due to the lack of
doctors, it was carried out by priests and other individuals.
