Paragonimiasis is a disease that occurs when the trematode is affected by the lung fluke Paragonimus westermani. Endemic foci of the disease are located
throughout the world, often found in residents of the Far East. Being a strict aerophilus, in the body of the final host, the paragonimus reaches full
development only in the lungs. In other organs, development stops at different stages. Infection occurs when inadequately processed crabs, crayfish are
consumed or with drinking water. In the intestine, at a certain temperature, humidity and reaction of the environment, activation and release of immature
forms from cysts occurs. Then they penetrate into the intestinal wall and penetrate into the free abdominal cavity, migrate into the retroperitoneal space, liver, spleen,
and posterior mediastinum. The overwhelming majority of parasites enter the
pleural cavity through the diaphragm and enter the lungs.
