One of the most common diseases, gout, was known to medicine several thousand years ago. However, despite the solid experience of coexistence with a person, it is difficult to find another disease, overgrown with so many misconceptions and prejudices. For example, gout is called deformity of the foot (“bones”), as well as arthrosis, which even some doctors for some reason interpret as “salt deposition”, which is completely not properly.

Causes Currently, there are two forms of gout – primary and secondary. Primary gout is the result of a congenital metabolic disorder. At the same time, the body lacks the uricase enzyme for processing uric acid, which is formed from purines that enter the body with food (meat, legumes, tomatoes, alcohol, etc.).

Normally, uric acid is converted into soluble compounds. In the absence of uricase, the concentration of uric acid increases, and its compounds (urates) in the form of crystals enter the joints, which leads to inflammation. In addition, the kidneys filter the increased amount of uric acid, trying to remove excess uric acid from the body.
