Infectious diseases are the most common human pathology. Humanity in its history has suffered quite a lot from this. Suffice it to recall the devastating epidemics that claimed the lives of millions of people: plague, typhus, cholera, the famous “childbirth fever” of the 19th or “Spanish flu” of the early 20th century. With the discovery of pathogens of infectious diseases: bacteria and viruses, as well as new drugs, primarily antibiotics, in the relationship “pathogen-human body” there have been fundamental changes.
Many infections have become a thing of the past, such a formidable disease as smallpox has been eliminated, and in general, morbidity and mortality have significantly decreased. Due to the improvement of diagnostic and treatment methods, most infectious diseases do not pose a threat to life and health. However, even today, the so-called “rare” infectious diseases of people are relevant, when meeting with which errors in diagnosis are most often encountered.
