The term “ischemic heart disease” first appeared in Russian literature in the late 50s – early 60s. The name of the disease comes from the Greek word “ischemia” (ischo – to delay, stop + haema – blood). According to the WHO, among the causes of temporary disability, the first place is occupied by ischemic heart disease (IHD). IHD accounts for one third of all deaths due to illness. Men aged 35-50 are more likely to suffer.
According to the classification, there are several forms of ischemic heart disease. In our practice, most often we have to meet with such a form of coronary artery disease as exertional angina and rest angina.
