Recently, the use of musical art for therapeutic purposes, which is called music therapy (MT), has been of particular interest. MT has been known since ancient times, but its true heyday came in the second half of the 20th century, when it began to be widely practiced in various countries of the world with a very wide range of psychosomatic disorders.

Taking into account the prospects of music therapy and its practical absence in our country, a comprehensive program for the development of this direction in Russia has been developed. An important step towards its implementation was the opening of the Research Center for Music Therapy and Medical Acoustic Technologies on the basis of the Russian Scientific Center restorative medicine and balneology of the Ministry of Health of Russia (Director – Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences, Professor A.N. Razumov).
