SUMMARY This article completes the series of articles “History of herbal medicine” (ancient civilizations). Against the background of the development of medicine in Ancient Rome, the development and improvement of the phytotherapeutic method of treatment is shown. The
formation and progress of this area of medical science is shown mainly through portraits of
prominent ancient figures in medicine, pharmacognosy and herbal medicine, based on the
study of their scientific works and contributions to medical science and practice.
