Which of the identified bacteria are pathogenic, and which are not, can be determined by identifying “key cells” in smears from mucous membranes, in urine
sediment, sputum, etc. Only bacteria adsorbed on the surface of epithelial cells or embedded in them show pathogenicity. Treatment should be directed against
them. If bacteria do not attach to epithelial cells, this means they are not causing disease. This is the simplest test that medicine does not do. Its implementation
requires “kopecks”, since no additional equipment and expensive reagents are
needed.
