About the opening of the department of music therapy and rehabilitation at the Russian Academy of Music. Gnesins and the concept of training professional staff in Russia

By order of the rector of the Russian Academy of Music. The Gnesins of Professor M.N. Sayamov was marked by a historic event – the creation of the first educational department in Russia to train professional specialists in the field of music therapy and rehabilitation, which clinics, rehabilitation centers, sanatoriums, and other health care and social protection institutions of our country need so much.

A prerequisite for this was our own long-term research work, data from international pedagogical experience, which in total made it possible to prepare the necessary educational and methodological material, namely: the state standard for the specialty music rehabilitation therapist – instructor in music health training and the corresponding five-year educational program. For this course, which fully corresponds to the international level, persons with secondary musical education will be accepted. In addition to general subjects, their curriculum includes medical, biological, psychological, music and special disciplines.
