Patients with chronic diseases of the ear, throat, nose can be conditionally divided into two large subgroups. The first group consists of patients with hyperplastic processes, in whom a chronic inflammatory process causes the proliferation of lymphoid tissue in the region of the lympharyngeal ring of the neck or nasal mucosa. These patients undergo long-term observation by an ENT doctor since early childhood.

Usually, the process begins with allergic rhinosinusitis, for the treatment of which nasal drops, antiallergic and antibacterial drugs are prescribed. This therapeutic tactic leads to the proliferation of lymphoid tissue in the nasal cavity and the formation of adenoids. In the cavity of the oropharynx, there is an increase in the palatine tonsils. The process becomes chronic, and further conservative treatment is ineffective.

Violation of the physiological act of breathing in a patient requires the use of surgical intervention to remove the adenoids or tonsillectomy. Since surgical treatment does not affect the cause of the disease, the adenoids often recur, and the time between the previous and subsequent surgical intervention is reduced each time. Scar tissue changes develop, which impair the biomechanics of the upper respiratory tract.
