SUMMARY Herbal raw materials as the most ancient medicine appeared in human life from the moment of his formation as a rational being. The stories of many types of medicinal plant materials are inextricably linked with the history of medicine, with
the fight against many serious diseases. The fight against malaria has become one of the most difficult problems in medicine. The cinchona tree gave mankind the ability to effectively fight this disease. The article examines in the historical aspect
the appearance in the arsenal of medicine of such a drug as quinine, which in our 21st century has not lost its significance.
