Traditional medical activity always existed and developed in parallel with allopathic medicine and did not find official recognition in Russia until the end of the 80s. In 1991, the Research Institute of Traditional Methods of Treatment of the USSR Ministry of Health was established. In 1995, the Ministry of Health of Russia allowed the use of the homeopathic method of treatment in practical health care. In 1997, the specialty reflexology and manual therapy was introduced. In 1999, the Scientific and Practical Center for Traditional Medicine and Homeopathy was formed, and in 2001, the Federal Scientific Clinical Experimental Center for Traditional Methods of Diagnostics and Treatment of the Ministry of Health of Russia.

The growing demand for Traditional medicine is due to its ability to obtain good treatment results without the use of medications, without complications and in cases of diseases that are difficult for official medicine. Such as autoimmune diseases, diabetes mellitus, 46.5% – people with higher education, 47.7% – with secondary education resort to healers and homeopaths, of which 79.3% are women. The age of 80% of patients is from 20 to 49. The standard of living: 95% – low, 27.9% – average, 30.2% – low. It should be noted that the spread of homeopathic assistance to the population is not enough for Russia.

Homeopathic clinics and pharmacies do not exist in all cities, for example, in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Novosibirsk, Krasnodar and a few others. It is gratifying that the number of doctors licensed to practice traditional medical practice is growing from 232 in 1994 to 692 in 2000. Departments of homeopathy and bioresonance therapy are opened in medical institutes, for example, in Vladivostok, self-supporting departments with traditional methods of diagnosis and treatment in clinical hospitals. But this is a drop in the ocean.
