Introduction This article is devoted to the problem of type 2 diabetes mellitus treatment. Today, this form of diabetes is more common and occurs more frequently in patients. In this form of diabetes, the pancreas continues to produce insulin, but the cells in the body become insensitive to its effects. This form of diabetes mainly affects people over the age of 40, the disease is more common among people with overweight and the so-called metabolic syndrome.
One of the reasons for the rise in the incidence of diabetes is the increase in the amount of food consumed per share of the population, which leads to an increase in the number of obese people. The disease develops slowly, often goes unnoticed over many years, and often this diagnosis becomes a “chance find” when examining patients. The genetic factor also plays a significant role in the pathogenesis of this disease.
