In April 1993, WHO declared tuberculosis a problem requiring urgent global action. According to the WHO, currently more than 20 million people are infected in the world, more than 10-12 million people fall ill with tuberculosis every year, and 4-5 million die. Extrapulmonary tuberculosis (ET) is of particular relevance. Extrapulmonary tuberculosis in up to 60% of cases is detected at an advanced stage, is widespread and complicated, which leads to a catastrophic level of disability – up to 80% of cases [1, 2].
Epidemic pathogenetic concepts allow predicting an increase in the number of patients with VLT in the coming years. The current state of affairs in medical science allows us to draw a sad conclusion: more than 2/3 of the recommendations set out in dissertations on tuberculosis in Russia in 2000 cannot be introduced into practical institutions, since the latter lack the appropriate equipment and personnel [3] … It is clear why practical health care needs to develop and implement relatively simple, mostly non-radiation methods for diagnosing tuberculosis.
