Myocardial infarction (MI) is a common disease of the cardiovascular system, especially in men over 50. In all economically developed countries in recent decades, there has been an increase in both the incidence of myocardial infarction and mortality from it. In Russia, MI is one of the most common causes of mortality and disability among the population. So, in 1996, 55.9 thousand people died from acute myocardial infarction in the country, which amounted to 5% of all diseases of the circulatory system and 2.7% of the total mortality of the population.
