Giardiasis is a protozoal infection caused by the microorganisms Lamblia intestinalis, which parasitize the small intestine. Currently, there is a steady increase in the number of diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, due to the presence of giardiasis, especially in childhood. However, the available diagnostic methods do not always allow identifying this infection. In children, the carriage of lamblia, according to various sources, is 20-30%. The peak of clinical manifestations is observed at the age of 7-11 years. We examined 25 children aged 5 to 15 years with diseases of the gastrointestinal tract.
