Albert Einstein wrote: “We owe a lot to the Indians who taught us to count – without this it would be impossible to conduct any worthwhile scientific research. I have made Bhagavad-gita my main source of inspiration and guidance for my scientific research and the creation of my theories. ” About 2,600 years ago, Ayurveda physician Sushruta successfully performed (and later described) cataract removal, limb prosthetics, cesarean section, urinary tract stones, plastic surgery and even brain surgery.

He used over 120 surgical instruments, many of which are identical to modern ones. The Sushruta Samhita describes the principles of blood circulation and heartbeat, which became known to the Western world only 2,200 years later – in 1628, when the English physician William Harvey conducted medical research and published his book. By the present time, a situation has developed in medicine in which both the doctor and the patient have become hostages of diagnostic techniques.
