Introduction In the practice of gynecologists, there are cases when, using generally accepted standard diagnostic methods and traditional approaches to therapy (hormonal regulation of the cycle, successful treatment of chronic inflammatory diseases of the female genital area), official medicine fails to solve the problems of female infertility and restore the disturbed menstrual cycle. One of the reasons for such situations may be various infections, with the
main attention in case of suspected viral infections usually paid to herpes simplex virus type 2 (genital herpes) and
cytomegalovirus. Chronic infection caused by the Epstein-Barr virus (EBV), obstetricians-gynecologists consider only
from the standpoint of the risk of intrauterine infection of the fetus in the event of the development or activation of
this infection during pregnancy [1].
