Prevention of eye diseases in Ayurvedic medicine

SUMMARY The article is devoted to the study of the means used for the prevention of eye diseases in the Ayurvedic medical tradition. The author analyzes the authentic Sanskrit texts of the three most important primary medical sources – “Sushrutasamhita”, “Charaka-samhita” and “Ashtangahridaya-samhita”. Methods used for the prevention of eye diseases are demonstrated. The contribution of Ayurvedic
medicine to this area of medicine is shown.
