Nearsightedness, hyperopia, astigmatism, accommodation spasm are the most common visual impairments in the modern world. These diseases are the most common reason for people seeking ophthalmologic help, especially in developed countries. Increasing visual stress – the intensification of education for children and adolescents, working with computers, precision manufacturing, as well as the state of chronic stress and other “diseases of civilization” – contribute to the ever wider spread of this pathology.

Moreover, in recent decades, mild myopia is no longer viewed as a disease, but as a result of the adaptation of the organ of vision to intensive work at close range. Modern methods for correcting refractive errors – glasses, contact lenses, surgery, incl. laser treatment – not always provide high-quality vision. Many patients experience constant discomfort, eye fatigue, headaches – phenomena described in ophthalmology as asthenopia.
